This seems to be the best we can do this winter for snowfall. A minor Clipper here, a pre-warm-frontal snow band there. Our next moisture starved Clipper sputters south Tuesday, followed by another chilly but bearable high pressure cell Wednesday.

The system lays down a light coating for the metro Tuesday. The best chance of 1 to 2 inch totals rides south and west of the Twin Cities from Willmar to Mankato and Rochester.

Snow lover and MPR Program Director Jonathan Blakley summed up the frustration of snow fans this winter in an email today.
Dusting... Bah humbug. There's more dust on my TV in my apartment than snow on the ground here...

Our forecast calls for chilly air through Thursday, before a warm up kicks in on southerly winds by Friday.

This week's air mass is cold, but nothing as sustained or intense as what we endured in the first half of January. I still think the coldest days of winter are probably behind us. Minnesota is getting off easy compared to last winter.
-12.3 degrees: February temperatures vs. average last year at MSP Airport.
+5.1 degrees: December temperatures at MSP
+3.4 degrees: Temperatures vs. average at MSP in Janaury
+ 1 hour of daylight gained in Minnesota since December 21st.
