Target says it will close all of its stores in Canada -- the chain's Waterloo -- by April 12.
“The court-approved real estate sales process is underway and is expected to be completed by the end of June 2015,” Target Canada CEO Aaron Alt said.
Seventeen thousand people are losing their jobs in the chain's sad exit from Canada.
There's so much that sad about the collapse of the retailer, much of it documented in the last 24 hours on Twitter.

WCCO anchor Jason DeRusha blamed it on "Canadians hopped up on maple syrup and Labatt's," thus winning television by 7 a.m.
Meanwhile, out in Fargo, another radio station tried its hand at being April Fool's Day funny with predictable results.
The station said all the Target stores in Fargo would close.
The manager of one Target told Valley News Live people were calling the store to yell at him.
