Many people, perhaps, aren't familiar with the history of the church where nine people were gunned down last night.
Clementa C. Pinckney, the church leader, provides a fascinating background on the church and its meaning in this video posted online.
"America is about freedom, whether we live it out or not," he said. "It is about freedom, equality and the pursuit of happiness. And that's what church is all about. Freedom to worship, and freedom from sin, freedom to be full what God intends us to be and have equality in the sight of God.
"Sometimes you've got to make noise to do that," he continued. "Sometimes you maybe have to die..."
Pinckney was one of those killed.
