PRI's "The World" deserves a lot of credit for its innovative map to understand the impact of the atomic bomb in Hiroshima 70 years ago today.
The bomb killed an estimated 90,000–166,000 people in the Japanese city, which has always suggested a huge geographic area was ground zero.
But "The World's" map/app reveals otherwise.
The map invites the users to make their own hometowns the center of the explosion.

I did that today for Woodbury, and the results were startling, at least to me.
Unfortunately, the designers obliterated the map with the captioning, but perhaps you'll still get the idea.
If the map/app is accurate, nearby St. Paul escapes relatively unscathed, except for a few broken windows.
