Milo Hamilton is dead. He died today at 88.
The Iowa native called baseball games on radio -- the only real way to follow a baseball game -- for 60 years, most recently as the Houston Astros announcer. Before that he was the play-by-play man for the Cubs, Pirates, and several other teams, including the Atlanta Braves, which tied him forever to this moment.
"I didn't have a chance to get nervous about what I was going to say," Hamilton said a few years ago. "I figured the home run would take care of it."
His baseball broadcasting career length is second only to Vin Scully, who last week announced he'll be back for one more season.
