Army Staff Sergeant Matthew Whalen suffered a massive and sudden stroke in Dallas. He couldn't be saved, but he was kept alive so that his organs could be donated to someone else.
As he was wheeled to an operating room, an impromptu honor guard formed.

"That’s what Matt deserved," his wife said. "He was a four time combat veteran. He was an exceptionally loving dad…that ceremony that they did he deserved that recognition.”
