It's unlikely that Gov. Mark Dayton's executive order banning all non-essential travel to North Carolina was going to have any effect, what with his office being unable to say how much travel to North Carolina occurs now and all.
But now North Carolina is going to pay a somewhat stiffer penalty for enacting a law stripping away LGBT protections. Aimed at Charlotte, the bill prohibited local governments from enacting their own regulations that ban discrimination. The governor signed "anti discrimination" legislation that doesn't include sexual orientation and gender identity as categories protected from discrimination.
Today, North Carolina lost the Boss. Bruce Springsteen announced on his website that Sunday's concert in Greensboro, N.C., is canceled.
Springsteen said the law is "an attempt by people who cannot stand the progress our country has made in recognizing the human rights of all of our citizens to overturn that progress."
