It's Flag Day, the annual NewsCut tradition of which requires us to cite -- and maybe mock a bit -- the way people show their love for the American flag, often by abusing it.
But, more often than not, they insert the flag -- or suggestions of a flag -- into more of their lives and products than we often realize.
We were a little sad this year that our tradition would touch the ground, given that it was mostly supported by Nikki Tundel, the great Twin Cities photojournalist and reporter who was one of the victims of budget cuts last year.
We needn't have worried, however. She's been documenting uses of the flag and sent us these examples.
