Jordan Bohannon, Iowa's sophomore guard, went to the free-throw line with a chance to erase Chris Street's name from the team record books. All he had to do was make a free throw. No big deal; he'd already made 34 in a row. Thirty-five would've given him the new record.

Street, an Iowa legend,  was killed in a 1993 car crash, a few days after his last game. Bohannon felt he shouldn't be forgotten.

He bricked the free throw. On purpose. Then pointed to the sky.

“I know where the record deserves to stand, and that’s in Chris’ name," Bohannon said. "... It gets me a little emotional, knowing what one player can do for an entire state and entire Midwest and entire country, just to know what type of player he was.”

He didn't tell his coach and thought he might be mad.

"That's what he chose to do," coach said. "I think it's awesome."

Bohannon and Street's parents hugged after the game. Street's father told him the next time he has a chance to break his son's record, "go right on by."

"Life is bigger than basketball," Bohannon tweeted after the game.
