Since the Cubs finally won a World Series, Wrigley Field isn't what it once was. It's still a great baseball stadium, but now the prospect of clinching a playoff spot doesn't even fill the place. Fans just expect it. There is Cub Fatigue, as the Chicago Tribune puts it.
What makes the Cubs and Cubs fans distinctive? Nothing. That all disappeared with a World Series victory.
So it was up to a rat to bring that old vibe back to Wrigley Field last night and give the fans something new to cheer for.
