Sen. Amy Klobuchar announced on Sunday that she's running for president.

Sen. Klobuchar might be well-known and well-respected in the Midwest, but is that enough to win a national election? Do candidates from the Midwest have enough clout or name recognition to be truly viable? Or put another way: do Midwestern voters really have the power to elect one of their own?

MPR News host Kerri Miller spoke to the Political Junkie Ken Rudin, as well as Donna Hoffman, a professor of political science from the University of Northern Iowa about what Klobuchar's pull is like on a national level.
