Windy Tuesday, thaw Wednesday; light rain and snow mix ahead
A week of January highs in the 30s for the Twin Cities?
Winds of change are blowing across Minnesota.
Gusty south winds peak at over 20 mph across much of Minnesota Tuesday, with gusts over 30 mph in southwestern Minnesota through Tuesday night.
Milder Pacific air mass
It’s plenty chilly out there now as temperatures still struggle into the 20s across much of Minnesota. But a milder Pacific air mass begins to arrive in Minnesota by Wednesday morning. Temperatures will actually start rising overnight and should hover near 30 degrees by morning.
Forecast models project temperatures will mostly hover in the 30s in the Twin Cities through the weekend into next week.

Light rain and snow mix
A fairly weak developing low-pressure system begins to pull moisture into southeast Minnesota Wednesday.
Temperatures near the freezing mark mean we’ll likely see mixed precipitation types Wednesday into Friday. Heavy precipitation is not expected, but there may be enough to lay down a couple of inches of snow across the southeast quarter of Minnesota including the Twin Cities by Friday.

With temperatures near freezing, any treated roads will likely be mostly wet. There could be some freezing rain mixed in Wednesday into Friday, especially in southeastern Minnesota.
