Monday night thunderstorms

Spotty severe weather was reported Saturday afternoon in parts of Minnesota.

  • There was a confirmed brief tornado touchdown at 1:06 p.m. Saturday about 14 miles southwest of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

  • Between 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Saturday there were several reports of large hail in Sibley County and Renville County, including tennis-ball size hail 3 miles SSW of Stewart in Sibley County.

  • There were reports of numerous trees blown down in Madison Lake (Blue Earth County) at 3:40 p.m. Saturday.

A nice Sunday

Our average Twin Cities high temp is 84 degrees on July 12. Our Sunday high in the Twin Cities is expected to be around 83 degrees. Much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin will have Sunday highs in the lower 80s, with 70s in northeastern Minnesota:

Twin Cities metro area high temps are projected to be in the mid 80s Monday, followed by around 80 on Tuesday, lower 80s Wednesday, mid 80s Thursday and upper 80s on Friday and Saturday.

There aren’t any chilly temps in sight. Next Sunday and the following week look warm. The NWS Climate Prediction Center shows a tendency for above normal temps in Minnesota and Wisconsin from July 19 through July 25:
