Cooler Sunday temps; snow reports starting to come in

Be careful as you head out the door this morning. Freezing rain was followed by snow overnight, so you may not see all the slick spots that are out there on the sidewalks, driveways and streets.

Updated Minnesota road conditions can be found here. Wisconsin road conditions can be found here.

Snow totals

Overnight snow totals are arriving very slowly, but we do have a few. MSP Airport reports 3.3 inches and the Chanhassen NWS office came in with 3.1 inches overnight. Many observers take their snow measurements around 7 a.m., so I expect many more snow totals in the next few hours.

Cool day

Sunday highs will top 30 degrees in much of eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin, with mainly 20s in western Minnesota:

Snow chances?

A few spots may see a passing flurry today. A low pressure system will spread snow across Iowa, northern Illinois and far southern Wisconsin Sunday night and Monday. The far southeastern corner of Minnesota could get clipped by light snow showers late Sunday night and early Monday morning.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern from 6 p.m. Sunday to noon on Monday:
