The Twin Cities hit 80 degrees Tuesday.
Tuesday’s average high is 61 degrees.
80 degrees is the average high from Aug. 19-23 in the Twin Cities.
7 of the first 11 days in October have been above 70 degrees.
October is running more than 4.3 degrees warmer than average in the Twin Cities so far.
Cold front ahead
A powerful cold front shakes Minnesota back to October weather reality Wednesday. The front will trigger a few thunderstorms Tuesday night as it moves through. Check out my thoughts on possible storm timing and coverage from my earlier post Tuesday.
Temperatures Wednesday will hover in the 40s and 50s across Minnesota.
Gusty northwest winds will blow over 30 mph at times pushing in a much colder air mass.

Highs will hover in the 40s north and 50s south Thursday and Friday.
By Thursday night, snow showers will fly across much of northern Minnesota. Accumulations look light and temporary.
Friday morning brings temperatures in the 20s across most of central and northern Minnesota. Even the inner Twin Cities core will be clinging to near the freezing mark early Friday.
Right now, Saturday looks like the milder day of the weekend. Highs should recover into the mid-50s in southern Minnesota.
