Expect partly cloudy skies, lighter winds and highs in the 30s and 40s on Monday. Showers develop Tuesday afternoon in western Minnesota and spread east overnight into Wednesday. The state will see waves of rain into Thursday with snow developing in the northwest.

Dry, bright Monday; winds rise again Tuesday

Monday’s a quiet weather day and may be Minnesota’s only dry day this week. We haven’t said that in months in the Twin Cities. Highs will be in the 40s south and 30s north Monday afternoon.

While winds will be lighter Monday, the wind increases again Tuesday as our next storm system develops and warmer air moves north again.

Tuesday will be milder with above-normal temperatures returning. Highs will be in the 50s south and 40s north.

Soaking storm brings rain, snow to Minnesota

We’re in for a needed soaking, finally. Showers will start to develop Tuesday afternoon in western Minnesota and spread east by Tuesday evening overnight into Wednesday. We’ll have periods of rain with some thunder through Thursday.

Colder air will transition the rain to snow in northwestern Minnesota Thursday. By Friday, most of the state will also see all snow.

The best chances of significant snow (more than 4 inches) is in a swath across northwestern and northern Minnesota Thursday into Friday night. Farther south, there is a chance at a coating of snow, but more likely to be an inch or less.
