Today in Fargo-Moorhead: Onto warmer and sunnier days, comedy fest weekend

We’re up against a potentially snowy Friday. Fargo-Moorhead warms up this weekend with highs in the mid-30s and plenty of sunshine. Saturday will be breezy. More sun and warmth greets the area into next week (hello, 41 degrees on Tuesday!).

Opening statements began Thursday in the trial of North Dakota’s lawsuit against the federal government for the costs of responding to the Dakota Access Pipeline protests, the culmination of an unusual and drawn-out court fight. The state filed the lawsuit in 2019, seeking $38 million from the federal government for policing the protests.

The Fargo Forum reports an attack by a “bad actor” outside of the U.S. caused the network outage at Minnesota State University Moorhead on Feb. 1.

Drew Lausch, who grew up in Fargo and graduated from Moorhead High in 2012, won an audience contest on “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon,” the Fargo Forum reports.

With customers spending less amid inflation, Target is rolling out a new attempt to bump up sales: a bargain in-house brand called Dealworthy.
