The Fourth of July falls on a Friday this year, setting the stage for a long weekend of celebrations across the state.
Whether you are heading to a lake, driving outside the city, or just planning to go to your local park, Minnesota offers fireworks shows for every kind of celebration. Don’t forget your lawn chairs, blankets, and check our Updraft for the latest weather updates.
Here’s a list of when and where to celebrate Independence Day in 2025:
Wednesday, July 2 fireworks
Bemidji: The Bemidji Jaycees Water Carnival fireworks have been moved to July 2 this year. Head to the south end of Lake Bemidji at dusk for the show.

Thursday, July 3 fireworks
Aurora: Part of the Aurora Patriotic Days, the fireworks show starts at 10 p.m., followed by the Festive Fourth Concert on July 4 at 4 p.m.
Bloomington: Summer Fete returns to Normandale Lake Park with fireworks displays that will be launched from Chalet Road at around dusk (10:10 p.m.). Enjoy the event from 5:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Eveleth: The Thunder Over Eveleth event will feature street dancing before the fireworks display at 10:15 p.m. On the Fourth of July, people can enjoy a parade that will start at 9:30 a.m. in Monroe Park.
Pequot Lakes: The Stars and Stripes Days will feature many activities, including a fireworks display at Trailside Park from 10-11:00 p.m. The event will end with a parade at noon on the Fourth of July.
Shakopee: The Kwik Trip Firework Spectacular event will be held at Canterbury Park and people can enjoy fireworks at around 10:00 p.m. following live horse racing. Admission ticket prices start at $8.71.
Friday, July 4 — Independence Day fireworks
Austin: The Freedom Festival runs June 28-July 6. Watch Fireworks at Bandshell Community Park at 10 p.m.
Cannon Falls: The fireworks show will take place at dusk at Cannon Valley Fair grounds, followed by a concert by Cursed by Lightning. Free admission.
Chanhassen: Festivities begin July 2, and fireworks cap the celebration at Lake Ann Park at 10:00 p.m., on July 4.
Detroit Lakes: Watch the fireworks show on Mile Long City Beach from 10-10:45 p.m.
Duluth: Fourth Fest at Bayfront Festival Park features the largest fireworks show in the upper Midwest. Starts at 10 p.m. and will take place over the harbor.
Elk River: Fireworks will be launched from the Oak Knoll Athletic Complex from 10-10:30 p.m. For better visibility, go to the Elk River High School or Salk Middle School parking lots.
Excelsior: The only public fireworks display over Lake Minnetonka starts at around 9:50 p.m. from Excelsior Bay. Head over to Commons Park and enjoy a day full of activities.
Ely: All-day celebration includes their famous parade at 1 p.m., followed by family-friendly activities and wrapping up with a fireworks show at 10 p.m. on the East side of Miners Lake.
Mankato: The Red, Hot Boom! fireworks begin at around 10:00 p.m. at MSU Mankato Athletic Fields. The show’s music can be heard on FM stations 93.1 (KATO), 94.1 (KXLP) and 96.7 (KDOG).
Minneapolis: Red, White and Boom! includes all-day festivities and fireworks at 10 p.m. over the downtown skyline.
Northfield: Fireworks return to Northfield Middle School. Best views from the school’s parking lot, Tyler Park, and Jefferson Parkway fields.
Owatonna: Fireworks at Steele County Fairgrounds will take place at 10:00 p.m. The show is hosted by The Early Edition Rotary Club.
Richfield: Head to Veterans Park and enjoy an all-evening Fourth of July celebration. Richfield’s parade starts at 3 p.m., followed by a fireworks show at 10 p.m.
St. Cloud: One of central Minnesota’s biggest fireworks displays takes place at 10 p.m. over the Mississippi River. Viewing areas include Wilson and Hester parks.
St. Paul: CHS Field will host Rock the 4th with Hairball, a 2-hour immersive rock concert followed by a fireworks show. General admission starts at $34.47.
Saturday, July 5 fireworks
Crosslake: Celebrating 55 years, the Crosslake fireworks display will take place at dusk (10-10:30 p.m.) and will be synchronized to Skeeter 101.5 FM.
Sunday, July 6 fireworks
Delano: The city’s multi-day Fourth of July Celebration wraps up on July 6 with fireworks at 10:30 p.m., at Delano Central Park. A unique daytime smoke fireworks show will also take place at 4:30 p.m. for the first time on July 4.

Maplewood: The city has rescheduled its Light it Up fireworks event to Sept. 19, citing earlier sunset and easier travel times.
