Following the holiday weekend, a marginal risk for severe weather is in place for Monday as thunderstorms are expected to develop across the state. The primary threats will be damaging wind gusts and hail, with temperatures remaining near average for early July.
Sunday night will be mainly clear, with low temperatures falling into the upper 50s to low 60s.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed the state under a marginal risk (level 1 of 5) for severe weather Monday, as thunderstorms return to the forecast.

A surface cold front pushing in from the Dakotas will trigger showers and thunderstorms across the northwestern and western parts of the state by Monday afternoon and evening.
As these storms track eastward, they’ll encounter decreasing instability, likely weakening into more typical, garden-variety thunderstorms.

Some storms may linger in eastern Minnesota into early Tuesday morning. Another round of isolated showers and storms is possible Tuesday afternoon.
Temperatures will stay seasonable in the upper 70s to lower 80s, with comfortable dew points continuing through the period.

Our air quality on Monday is forecasted to be in the moderate (yellow) category due to smoke from Canadian wildfires.
