The University of Minnesota is launching a new institute focused on identifying and responding to infectious diseases.

The new effort comes at a critical time, said 

University of Minnesota Institute on Infectious Diseases

“The Federal situation has led to many cutbacks, and especially in infectious disease preparedness,” he said. “We’re highly concerned about another epidemic, or even a pandemic developing now in the United States in particular.”

The University of Minnesota Institute on Infectious Diseases is expected to open Friday, July 25.
