Looking for an event that describes itself as fun-filled, family-friendly and fragrant?
This weekend, the 18th-annual Minnesota Garlic Festival returns to Hutchinson, Minnesota and features chef demonstrations, a garlic-growing contest and a stage where you can "meet your farmer.”
Carl Rosen is one of the featured garlic growers at this weekend's festival and a soil scientist with the University of Minnesota-Extension.
While he enjoys eating garlic — roasted is his favorite, in moderation — he can’t get enough of growing it.
“It's a crop that is, in my opinion, somewhat addicting to grow,” Rosen said.
“Once you start growing it, you just want to learn more about how it grows and the different types of varieties that are out there.”
