UW-River Falls football heads to national championship for the first time

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls football team will make its national championship debut this weekend at the NCAA Division III Stagg Bowl in Canton, Ohio.
“This is their first ever and deepest ever run in the postseason. The secret sauce this year has been their offense without question,” said Wally Langfellow, former University of Wisconsin-River Falls alumnus and sports commentator. Langfellow provided live commentary for Falcon’s football in the ‘80s and will do it again on Sunday.
He said the Falcons are up against some tough competition. They’ll be facing the reigning champions, Illinois’ North Central College.
“North Central of Illinois, has been to the national championship game the last six times,” Langfellow said. “And they've won three of those already.”
The two teams will face off Sunday, Jan. 4, at 7 p.m. at the Hall of Fame Stadium in Ohio.
