Winter storm warnings continue in northern Minnesota

An international war is keeping plane ticket prices high, but also a partial federal shutdown and an impending winter storm is creating an uncertain travel weekend.

Kyle Potter is the editor of the travel website 

. His first piece of advice is to go into your plans hoping for the best but preparing for the worst. 

“That's just a really good mental state to be in during what is a confusing and in some cases, chaotic time to be traveling right now,” he said. 

Transportation Security Administration agents 

 less than six months since the last time that happened with a government shutdown. Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport seems to be avoiding extreme wait times, but Potter said that could change quickly.

“Be thankful and be grateful to those TSA agents as they go through the airport in the days and weeks ahead,” he said. “The longer the shutdown drags on, the more paychecks that these workers miss, the more likely that things are going to escalate.”
