Mille Lacs’ walleye return to same ‘hot spots’ to spawn, protections could be key to their success

Researchers with the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe and the Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission released walleye inserted with transmitters back into Mille Lacs Lake. They tracked the movement of walleye over several years, and found that the vast majority returned to the same locations to spawn every year.
