Minneapolis residents got a chance Wednesday night to weigh in on a proposed double-digit increase in the city's property tax levy.
Mayor Jacob Frey's 2027 budget calls for an 11.3 percent levy increase as the city faces a budget gap of more than $60 million. The city’s Board of Estimate and Taxation will decide later this month how high that levy can go.
MPR News host Cathy Wurzer spoke with Steve Brandt, president of the Board of Estimate and Taxation, about the board’s recent meeting and how residents reacted to the proposed tax levy.
