Mid-October warmth has kept Minnesota in a drought chokehold.

Meteorologist and climatologist Mark Seeley said over a third of the state still remains in moderate drought and about a quarter is in severe drought. It’s an improvement from the summer, but still not ideal.

Rain has on-and-off chances all the way through the weekend. Seeley said Monday there is expected to be a higher dose of rain.

“And then more frequent rain next week,” he added.
