Drought conditions are spread across Minnesota with about one-third of the state in severe drought.
Consistent precipitation is needed to ease those conditions. Recent rains are helping in southern Minnesota, climatologist and meteorologist Mark Seeley told MPR News.
“We've got 20 counties that are already reporting over 3 inches, which is above normal for for this month so far, and that's a good sign,” he said.
