September temperatures have averaged 5 to 10 degrees above normal across most of Minnesota, but that warmer-than-normal pattern will end this weekend and a stretch of cooler-than-normal temperatures will begin.
Much cooler air will blanket the state starting Saturday and running through most of next week, dropping overnight low temperatures into the 40s and 50s, with even some upper 30s in northern counties.
“Today’s going to be the last above normal temperature for a while,” meteorologist and climatologist Mark Seeley told MPR News. “We’ve got a transition coming up this weekend. And then we’re going to see cooler than normal temperatures prevail for quite a period of time.”
