Starting Thursday, thousands of Minnesota nursing home workers are getting a raise. New hourly pay will range from $19 for many nursing home workers to $27 for licensed practical nurses.
The new minimum wages come after years of work by unions representing workers and action from the state's Nursing Home Workforce Standards Board. MPR News host Cathy Wurzer spoke with Jamie Gulley, the board chair, about the pay increase and why it’s significant.
