In emails sent to thousands of race participants and the media just after 5:30 a.m. Sunday, race officials said the predicted temperatures “do not allow a safe event for runners, supporters and volunteers.”

With much warmer and more humid air Friday we’ll have scattered showers and thunderstorms around. Highs will be near 80 south to the 60s north. The weekend will be very warm also.
With just a couple days to go, September could finish as the hottest on record for the Twin Cities. Statewide, it is the hottest September, according to climatologist Mark Seeley. This year’s warmth was made much more likely due to climate change.
