Chilly New Year's Eve; continued cooldown into 2025
We'll ring in the new year with below-average temperatures, ranging from the teens to single digits. As the weekend approaches, temperatures will continue to fall, with highs expected to be at least 10 degrees below the seasonal average.
New Year's Eve temps in the teens, single digits across Minnesota
Colder air is moving in and that will keep temperatures steady or even falling through the day. Even colder air arrives late in the week. 
New Year's Eve looks cold, breezy, quiet as fog lifts
High pressure to the north will usher in northwesterly winds, helping to clear the fog and usher in colder, more winterlike temperatures just in time for New Year's Day. The forecast remains dry throughout the week. A weather system may affect the region next weekend.
More fog Monday with rain and snow southwest
Fog and clouds will again blanket the state Monday along with one last mild day. Rain and snow will develop for southwestern Minnesota and temperatures take a dive for all this week. 
Another round of dense fog Sunday night
Persistent fog and cloud cover will linger through Sunday night into Monday morning with fog thickening in some areas and significantly reducing visibility. We’ll experience one last mild day before northwest winds gradually bring cooler temperatures as we head into the New Year.
Dense fog and cloud cover; mild temperatures continue
After a sunny Saturday afternoon, cloud cover and dense fog have returned for Sunday. Temperatures remain mild as we head into the start of the week, with more seasonal weather expected to arrive for the new year.
Cloud cover and fog moving in before another warm day Sunday
After a pleasant break in the cloud cover on Saturday, fog and clouds return Saturday night into Sunday. Sunday will bring mild temperatures, ranging from the 30s to 40s.
Mild and foggy start to the weekend; peeks of sun possible
Dense fog continues across the state, with mild temperatures expected to persist and highs reaching the 40s on Saturday. However, cooler temperatures are forecasted for the New Year.
Rain chances through Saturday; foggy overnight
Cloudy skies and rain showers will increase through Friday night, along with lingering fog. Expect mild temperatures in the 40s over the weekend, accompanied by overcast conditions.
A wet, foggy Friday and Saturday. Colder air next week
Rain showers will continue to develop and move north Friday morning into Saturday. Temperatures will be above freezing until Saturday night.
