It is believed the group fell 3,300 feet from their last known whereabouts of 12,800 feet on Liberty Ridge, Mount Rainier National Park spokeswoman Patricia Wold said in a statement.
Tou Hu Vang was fishing with his 11-year-old nephew last Sunday when the boy slipped into swift-moving river. Vang and a bystander jumped in to rescue the boy.

One man was thrown from his motorcycle and died at the scene on Deerfield Road in the Town of Washington. His name was not immediately released. The second accident happened around 11:30 a.m. Monday on Interstate 94 near Watertown in Jefferson County.
Washington County sheriff's officials were called to Lions Levee Park in St. Paul Park about 5 p.m. Sunday. Witnesses say a 14-year-old boy was trying to retrieve a stick when he went under water and disappeared. WCCO-TV reports the boy's body was found about 1:30 a.m. Monday.
