For years, many of us were taught that it’s rude to share how much you make with your colleagues.

But in recent years, employees are pushing for more transparency when it comes to pay. Advocates for pay transparency say it can help address discrimination in pay and help to close the wage gap. And in some states and cities, new laws require that companies post job salary ranges for open positions.

MPR News host Angela Davis talks about the pros and cons of putting your paycheck in the spotlight.
