Minneapolis police step up presence around schools, houses of worship after mass shooting

As more schools begin fall classes, police in Minneapolis are getting help from other agencies for extra patrols in the wake of this week’s deadly shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church and School. A federal judge in Minnesota has dismissed a lawsuit that sought to block abortion access in the state.

Two children shot and killed at Annunciation Catholic School have been named

We've learned the names of the two children who were shot and killed at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis on Wednesday. Ten-year-old Harper Moyski was shot while sitting in a pew for a school Mass. Her family described her as 'bright, joyful and deeply loved.' The other child was 8-year-old Fletcher Merkel. His father Jesse addressed the media, saying his son loved his family and friends, fishing, cooking and sports.

Thousands gathered at vigils to remember and pray for the victims of the shooting

Thousands of people gathered at vigils last night to remember and pray for the victims of the shooting at Annunciation Catholic Church and School in Minneapolis. Two children were killed and 17 others were injured in the shooting, which happened during a morning Mass marking the first week of school. The shooter was outside and shot through a church window.

West Nile in Minnesota; State Fair daily attendance record

West Nile virus cases are increasing across the state. The Minnesota Department of Health reports 20 cases of West Nile virus so far this year. Two of the affected people have died. Monday's daily attendance at the Minnesota State Fair hit a record. The daily attendance creeped just past 145,000 people yesterday -- about 500 more people than the record set in 2017.
