The U.S. Department of Justice is pulling out of proposed oversight agreements with the Minneapolis Police Department. And a federal judge has ordered the release of a University of Minnesota student from ICE custody.
Police reform advocates in Minneapolis are denouncing the Trump administration's attempt to drop the federal consent decree. And a working group on the human services budget bill at the Minnesota Legislature is meeting privately to iron out differences. As they do, advocates for disabled people in the state held a rally this morning to push against possible cuts for disability waivers.
The Timberwolves lost to Oklahoma City Tuesday night 114-88 in the NBA’s Western Conference championship series. The state legislature’s working groups went in and out of meetings Tuesday with legislative leaders to finish up bills after the session adjourned on Monday.

And meteorologist Sven Sundgaard says that while a system will bring rain to the state today through Wednesday, it's expected to miss the region where fires are burning.
Lawmakers are expected to be back for a special session later this week after working over the weekend ahead of Monday’s adjournment deadline. The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office and other government agencies will be hosting a meeting Monday night about the Jenkins Creek and Camp House wildfires.
Gov. Tim Walz is promising residents in the fire ravaged areas in the northeastern part of the state will get help in rebuilding. Public sector unions are expressing frustration over a proposed plan to close the state prison in Stillwater.
Gov. Tim Walz and legislative leaders struck a budget deal that rolls back health care coverage for undocumented immigrants. Minnesota's second-oldest prison facility is closing. State leaders say they are shutting down the Stillwater correctional facility in phases with the goal of closing the prison by June 2029.
