Gopher women raise The Barn roof

The University of Minnesota women's basketball team is in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament after trouncing Kansas State 80-61 Tuesday night at William's Arena. Minnesota dominated the game from the start, building a 26-point halftime lead and never letting the Wildcats back into the game. Minnesota Public Radio's Jim Bickal reports.

For Twins fans, TV deal is a losing proposition

Pawlenty stadiums plan would have teams pay one-third the cost

Gov. Tim Pawlenty on Monday presented a plan for new Twins and Vikings stadiums that would require team owners to pay about one-third of the project cost. Pawlenty's plan would authorize local governments to raise restaurant and lodging taxes.

Panel recommends two stadiums, but no state funding

Gov. Tim Pawlenty's Stadium Screening Committee has approved a final set of recommendations for building new facilities for the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. The panel is recommending a mix of new or increased local taxes to be supplemented with dollars from the teams and fans. The committee will prepare a final draft to present to the governor on Monday.
