Forecast: Snow, thaw, snow, cold, repeat?

If you don't like the weather in Minnesota, just wait 15 minutes?

That tried and true weather wisdom holds true today, and maybe for the next two weeks on a longer time scale. Get ready for just about anything as we turn the page into February. We start with scattered snow showers today that once again slick up some roads around the metro and greater Minnesota.

The La Crosse, Wis., National Weather Service captures the flavor of the going forecast.

Milder Pacific breezes arrive tomorrow. Temperatures push above the thawing point several days into the weekend. The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts guidance for the Twin Cities suggests six days in a row at or above the thawing point.

Subzero shot ahead?

By late next week, the longer range outlooks favor another subzero shot for Minnesota.

There's about two days of consistency on this now, a growing sign of forecast confidence that we're not done with subzero air just yet. I still don't buy -20 at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, but another shot of -10 looks increasingly likely.
