MN high school league relying on member schools to help with budget gap
The Minnesota State High School League is looking to its member schools to fill a hole in its budget. COVID-19 has upended the league’s traditional reliance on state tournaments for revenue.
This week, the Star Tribune reported that school leaders across the state began receiving letters with big bills from the league, with some fees increasing as much as 300 percent. Many schools are, in turn, facing their own pandemic-related budget shortfalls.
Erich Martens, the league’s executive director, spoke with MPR News host Cathy Wurzer.
