Temperatures likely above 40 degrees for at least the next 2 weeks.

There are two guarantees with Minnesota weather: sunrise and sunset.

But looking at the maps for the next one to two weeks, it appears highly likely that we’ve seen our last 32-degree (or colder) temperature of the spring season in the Twin Cities and much of southern Minnesota.

The last time MSP Airport hit 32 degrees or colder was on April 25 when the thermometer bottomed out at 31 degrees.

As you can see from the graphic below, there is a 90 percent chance historically that we’re done with 32 degrees temperatures in the Twin Cities after May 10.

Looking at the weather maps for the next one to two weeks, it appears highly likely that the Twin Cities and most of southern Minnesota will stay above 40 degrees on the coldest nights over the next two weeks.

That takes us to about May 20. And frost is rare in the Twin Cities after that date.

And with highs in the 70s and 80s next week, soil temperatures will warm up fast.

So while there are no guarantees we won’t see another nip of frost in late May or even early June, it’s highly unlikely climatologically speaking.

Frist is still common in central and northern Minnesota through May, and even into early June up north.
