February maintains weird winter temperature trends
December and January are punctuated with an exclamation of February’s warm first eight days, according to climatologist and meteorologist Mark Seeley.
Since the start of February, temperatures have been averaging nearly 25 degrees above normal. International Falls, which is typically one of the coldest places in the state, reached a record-setting low temperature of only 36 degrees on Thursday.
“That one just boggled my mind,” Seeley said.
MPR News Host Cathy Wurzer spoke about the mind-boggling weather with Seeley in their weekly weather chat.
