As has been the going trend this winter, February is another winter month that saw record setting temperatures.

In fact, 75 percent of all days between Dec. 1 and Feb. 23 have had record setting temperatures, according to meteorologist and climatologist Mark Seeley of the University of Minnesota Climate Adaptation Partnership Program.

For places like International Falls, the ‘Ice Box of the Nation,’ temperatures typically only see 11 days above freezing (32 degrees Fahrenheit). But this winter, International Falls has reported 42 days above freezing.

MPR News host Cathy Wurzer spoke with Seeley about these record number of days in their weekly weather chat.
