A practically snowless winter has been interrupted by a major storm system in the early days of spring. “March will be written in two chapters,” Meteorologist and Climatologist Mark Seeley said.

The month of March is special because of it’s two distinct and opposing weather patterns. Seeley said average temperatures for the first half of the month was the second warmest in state history.

And since then, the temperature has slowly dropped. With all the extra snow precipitation the climate is shifting from dry to wet.

“The moisture will definitely be welcome,” Seeley said.

MPR News host Cathy Wurzer spoke with Seeley about the weather whiplash in their weekly weather chat.
