Love for the lost: A small exhibit at the Weisman reimagines a moment of Black history

Through his paintings, artist Christopher E. Harrison imagined who the people were and what they were like from the newspaper ads that curator JoJo Bell found in her research. Pictured here is the portrait "Buchanan and Martha Child." The ad stated "These two children have not been seen by their mother since 1861. They were sold to a man in North Carolina or South Carolina."
