Parts of Minnesota received more than a half-foot of snow from Thursday’s winter storm. For much of the state, it was the largest snowfall of the winter so far.

That meant difficult travel on highways across the region, a busy day for snowplow drivers — and a chance for fans of winter to have some fun in the fresh, powdery snow.
