Tuesday’s snow is providing a picture-perfect backdrop for Minnesotans’ holiday lights.
For the ninth year and counting, Minnesota culture aficionado and former broadcaster Mike Marcotte has created a sprawling guide to the best holiday light displays in the North Star State and western Wisconsin. The guide features more than 200 displays, ranging from professional installations to front-yard masterpieces.
One display that caught Marcotte’s eye has also become a social media darling. It's a house in Inver Grove Heights that’s decked out like the movie “A Christmas Story.” “The homeowners air the movie in the front yard,” Marcotte said. “They have Flick on the flagpole. They have the lamp. They have the box that says ‘fragile.’ They go the whole nine yards, and it's incredible.”
Another top contender for music lovers is Trista Lights in Minnetrista, featuring 80,000 bulbs synched to music on 97.5 FM.
