The future of a North Shore landmark — the Lutsen Resort property — is in question after the owner, Bryce Campbell, allegedly burned down the main lodge building in 2024.
Campbell's in the midst of court proceedings right now and maintains his innocence, but developers are circling, should he lose his case.
Duluth News Tribune Reporter Tom Olsen joined Cathy Wurzer to talk about the property’s uncertain future and what Lutsen Resort means historically and economically to the community.
“One of the attorneys who’s been involved in this kind of described it as the most prime piece of undeveloped real estate you're going to find on the North Shore,” Olsen said. “Pretty much every other acre, I think, of the North Shore has been gobbled up by something. I think a lot of folks probably see a real opportunity here.”
