Thunderstorms moved across the northern Minnesota Friday morning with spotty showers expected to pick up into Saturday and Monday as the state suffers from drought.
“With something like 35 percent of the state in severe drought, we’ve got a long ways to go to make that up,” said climatologist and meteorologist Mark Seeley.
Despite the lack of precipitation, soil moisture has been holding strong. Seeley said that moisture has been a crutch for crop producers in the state with 75 percent of corn and soybeans still being rated in good to excellent conditions.
