What happened to Minnesota's Rapidan Dam? Here's what to know about its flooding and partial failure
A Minnesota dam is still intact after floodwaters overcame parts of the structure and prompted officials to prepare for a potential collapse. Authorities on Tuesday initially said the Rapidan Dam faced an “imminent threat” of collapse, but later said an abutment had partially failed. The river has swelled after an onslaught of rain pummeled the Midwest.
Cooler Wednesday. More rain possible Thursday night into Friday
Wednesday will be cooler with partly cloudy skies. The next round of possible showers and thunderstorms develops Thursday night into Friday but clears for the weekend. 
Cooler days ahead with late week rain chances returning
A secondary cool front is sliding across the state overnight touching off a few spotty showers. It will drop temperatures into Wednesday with highs just in the 60s and 70s.

The first iron mine in Minnesota closed underground tours due to flooding after recently reopening. Last week, the mine was hit with 7.6 inches of water in less than 24 hours.
Severe thunderstorm watch for Twin Cities region into early Tuesday
An enhanced risk for severe weather is forecast for east-central and southeastern Minnesota into western Wisconsin Monday evening and overnight. Storms could produce damaging wind gusts. 
Normally there are four roads to get to the southern Minnesota town of Henderson, but flooding due to heavy rain has left just one open road to get in and out.
Flooding pushes Blue Earth County dam to ‘imminent failure condition’
The county says the rain-swollen Blue Earth River has cut around the west side of the dam and there are concerns about debris in the river. Authorities are notifying residents downstream of the dam.
Steamy Monday with strong storms possible late
A heat advisory is posted for southwestern Minnesota Monday afternoon. Strong to severe storms are possible late Monday with drier weather Tuesday and Wednesday.
