State and federal land managers are warning of extreme fire danger across northeastern Minnesota, as a lack of precipitation, low humidity, warm temperatures and strong winds combine to create ideal conditions for wildfires.
After lingering morning showers fizzle out, we’ll see midday sunshine and more thunderstorms developing later in the afternoon and evening Tuesday. Temperatures will be near 90 this week and continued unsettled patterns.
Expect late-day thunderstorms in the west, with air quality alerts for ground-level ozone in parts of Minnesota through tonight. Areas of northeastern Minnesota are under a fire danger warning until 8 p.m.
Temperatures will dip into the 50s to near 60 overnight with some 40s in northeast Minnesota. A few showers are possible late Sunday night in far northwest Minnesota. Memorial Day will bring spotty thunder chances again to west central and northwest Minnesota.
