On Aug. 27, 2025 gunshots broke out in Minneapolis during morning mass at Annunciation Catholic Church and School. Two children, Fletcher Merkel and Harper Moyski, died in the mass shooting. Twenty-eight other people were injured.

Harper Moyski was one of two children shot and killed in the mass shooting. Her parents have met individually with more than a dozen lawmakers, from both parties, for conversations in their living room about keeping kids safe.
